Since the 2010s I have been an active member of the so-called "Alternative Movie Poster" community which creates art for their favorite movies. The goal is to always relish in style and be as expressive as possible – just pure fun designing.

All of the designs on this page are entirely conceptualized and designed by myself.

Westworld: A Journey into Conciousness

The first season of HBO’s Westworld was a stunning creative triumph that immediately inspired me to develop a tribute series of character posters.

Reflecting the show’s central themes of self-discovery and the symbolic journey through the Maze into one’s own consciousness, I created these artworks using Procreate on iPad and Adobe Photoshop.

Blade Runner 2049: Hype Through Art

The 2016 announcement of a new Blade Runner film starring Ryan Gosling generated huge buzz online and personally sparked my own excitement. In anticipation of the release, and well before any official promotional materials or first-look images were available, I created all of the posters shown above as a personal tribute to the upcoming film.

"The Face of Kylo Ren" for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Winner at the Official "The Force Awakens" Poster Competition

In 2015, the alternative movie poster platform PosterSpy, in collaboration with Disney, hosted an official Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster competition which I was honored to win with this minimalist and elegant design of Kylo Ren’s mask.

The concept reimagines the mask as a near-sacred object of prestige (almost like a “tin god”) while contrasting it with harsh, vertical bars that reflect the character’s darker, more sinister nature.

Anthony Daniels, who portrayed C-3PO in every Star Wars installment, served as the competition’s judge and announced my win with the following tweet:

Nocturnal Animals: A Monument to Pain

This poster for Nocturnal Animals evokes the film’s exploration of trauma through the striking image of a blood-streaked Mercedes Benz displayed like an artifact in a museum. The vehicle, rendered in cold, lifeless tones, becomes a symbolic “monument to pain” – a preserved relic of violence, grief, and unresolved emotional scars. The chaotic, blood-red title text slashed across the composition contrasts sharply with the stillness below, suggesting how inner anguish violently disrupts an otherwise controlled surface. Together, these elements visually capture the film’s core metaphor that personal trauma can become fossilized into our identity, eternally on display and never truly resolved.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk:
"The Commercialization of War"

These posters for Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk visually capture the film’s central tension between the raw reality of war and its glorified public perception. By juxtaposing combat-ready soldiers with celebratory fireworks (symbols of festivity, spectacle, and patriotism), the designs underscore the commercialization and romanticization of warfare. The silhouetted and weary figures stand in stark contrast to the dazzling backdrops, highlighting the emotional disconnect between the soldiers’ lived trauma and the sanitized, heroic narrative presented to the public. This visual metaphor reflects the film’s critique of how heroism is often packaged and sold, overshadowing the human cost of conflict.

Comrade Detective: "In on the Spoof"

Comrade Detective is an American spoof series from 2017, presented as if it were a genuine Romanian cop show from the early 1980s. Produced by Channing Tatum and Rhys Thomas, the show is fully committed to its central concept of authenticity. Therefore, I designed a poster that embraces the visual aesthetics of the era and created mockups that emulate the look of vintage photographs suggesting the poster was genuinely captured in 1980s Bucharest.

Minimalism Used to Maximum Effect

There is a quiet power in minimalism. Whenever possible, I enjoy exploring how thoughtful reduction can sharpen focus and elevate an idea. The examples above each stem from a simple concept (sometimes as an homage) and are executed in the cleanest, most stripped-back form possible, free of unnecessary decoration.

This artwork for The Founder (2016) subtly captures the central irony of Ray Kroc’s legacy: being widely recognized as the “founder” of McDonald’s, despite having orchestrated a takeover that ultimately pushed out the original creators, Richard and Maurice McDonald.

This artwork emphasizes the nostalgic tone of The Founder by depicting the iconic (though not original) McDonald’s restaurant with a dreamlike, idealized quality, evoking a sense of Americana and the mythologizing of the brand’s early image.

This gritty poster for Alien: Covenant visualizes the Engineers as victims of their own creation, evoking a bit of an Ouroboros metaphor – the cycle of creation and destruction. The artwork was composed using various assets, including a photographed action figure of an Engineer.
