Playful UX design & promotional assets
The Munich branch of Portland-based agency Ziba gave me the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects – including complex UI/UX initiatives in the medical, entertainment, and communications sectors, as well as the development of high-quality promotional materials for print, digital and motion.
This experience provided me with a deep understanding of the end-to-end asset production pipeline, from creating wireframes and flowcharts to preparing final spec documentation and deliverables.

Vodafone Signature Widget
One of the most playful UI projects I had the pleasure of leading was the development of the Vodafone Signature Widget – a combined clock and weather widget that came pre-installed on Vodafone’s custom line of Android phones and tablets.
I was responsible for the project end-to-end, including the exploration of interaction models, creation of its visual design, and the delivery of a complete specification package for developers.
Signature Widget with Different Weather States
The widget featured around 40 distinct and neatly designed weather states (for day and night) and would display the time, date and temperature.
But most notably, the Vodafone brand-colored bars on the clock's edge visually represent the users calendar entries for the next 12 upcoming hours – including indications for their progression.

It's all about the spec
As playful as the design may be, its true effectiveness lies in the precision of the underlying specifications. That’s why I took full responsibility for developing the comprehensive spec documentation and preparing all final assets required by the development team.

Polished & relatable promotional materials
As part of supporting Vodafone in the launch of their latest handheld devices, I was responsible for producing lifestyle photography that showcased the products in clearly defined use cases. These images were designed for use across advertising and promotional materials. The objective was to create polished yet relatable visuals that offered clear contextual understanding, adhered closely to the client’s visual guidelines, and effectively communicated each devices’ unique functionality and selling-point in real-world scenarios.
Resonating with the right audience –
on a tight budget
Each lifestyle shot was strategically crafted to resonate with specific target audiences and demographics.
In addition to a clear understanding of the intended customer segments, it was essential to quickly become well-versed in each device’s unique selling points and key features. This in-depth knowledge was critical to successfully executing the project within a highly compressed timeline and an exceptionally limited budget.
The shots would then be used on so-called micro sites advertising each device's unique features on a dedicated website.
Shop Movies & Screensavers
As part of the broader campaign for each device, I also created screensavers and in-store display videos designed to run on the devices themselves or on wall-mounted screens at the point of sale (POS). I was responsible for concept development, storyboarding, and full execution of these assets using After Effects.

Router configuration made accessible & easy
Vodafone Smart@Home is a multi-platform app for phones and tablets that provides comprehensive access to Vodafone router functions. It offers a wide range of features including address book management, parental controls, WiFi settings, diagnostic tools, and remote device management – all while keeping usability and accessibility front and center.
I led the visual design of the app, closely aligning with development sprints and conceptualizing new features that seamlessly integrated into the existing user experience and design framework.
The app was released in multiple languages and countries for iOS & Android.
A scalable solution by design
Again, I was responsible to provide detailed specs, flow charts and deliverables for the app and was deeply involved with the parallel development of its WebUI exquivalent, which was awarded with an IDEA and reddot design award in 2013.
